Jumpstart Your Puppy

Welcome to Jumpstart, an effortless and enjoyable way to get a Perfect Puppy.

The first weeks with a puppy are the most stressful for people and puppies alike. There are sleepless nights, crate training, potty training, teaching sit, down, come, leave-it. Yet none of these things is as important as Socializing your puppy; getting him outside and introducing him to strangers, malls, kids, dogs, traffic, noise, malls. In fact, Socializing your puppy will make all the difference between having a dog you can take anywhere and one that stays home or in a locked car because he is unmanageable. It’s a lot to get done in a very short time and there are no shortcuts.

It can, however, be effortless and fun.

Jumpstart Your Puppy is an intensive, one-on-one, 24-hour care and training program that teaches your puppy everything he needs to know, in all the places he needs to know it. Jumpstart delivers results quickly and effortlessly by combining round-the-clock care, training and socialization with practice sessions for you and your family. As your puppy’s expertise and confidence grows, so does yours.

Jumpstart Your Puppy can begin as early as 8 or 9 weeks of age, as soon as you get your new puppy. Throughout the seven to ten days that follow your puppy will develop confidence, be potty and crate trained, learn all about the world and learn how to live with your family.

Here are just a few things Jumpstart will teach your puppy:

1. Errorless house training. Your puppy will go potty on command, both on and off-leash.

2. Comforting, enjoyable crate training.

3. Chew toy training that will help prevent unnecessary destructiveness in the home, even separation anxiety problems later.

4. Daylong socialization. Your puppy will meet and interact with all types of people and places so your puppy does not become fearful or possibly aggressive as an adult.

5. Comfort with dogs of all sizes, breeds and ages. This includes learning appropriate ways to greet and play with other dogs.

6. Time alone. It is important that your puppy learns to be by himself without soiling in the house, becoming destructive, or barking excessively.

7. Car time. Your puppy learns how to ride in the car safely, stay in one place, wait patiently and quietly till you return.

8. Basic Obedience (sit, down, come, leave-it) takes place immediately. Sitting and looking up at you teaches puppies how to regulate their energy downward – on command. Sitting is the way your puppy will open every conversation with you, how he’ll ask for what he wants.

9. Walking on-leash. Your puppy will learn to walk quietly with you anywhere, without pulling or getting in front of you. We use a hands-free leash system, so you can push a baby carriage, grocery cart, unload groceries with both hands. This leads to off-leash work later.

10. Your puppy will learn to enjoy being handled on any part of his body, important for vet visits.

11. Your puppy will learn how to co-exist peacefully with other dogs at home.
